Attention: This (Maintenance + Me) card is an invitation to interrogate the social norms of work life. Is your voice and therefore your idea getting lost in the group or are your teammates ignoring your idea as a way of communicating, "your idea is bad"?
Why is this card Maintenance and Me? At first glance, it might not seem like finding out that your team doesn't like your idea is good maintenance, but upon closer look, this card is really about understanding the group dynamic. If you voice is being lost in the shuffle, then finding out why is an important piece of maintenance to ensure future progress.
If you team doesn't like your idea, and they either don't feel comfortable telling you or you are not getting it, this is also critical information to surface and discuss.
Facilitator Tip: This card is a conversation that lasts longer than 5 minutes. Don't bring this card out unless you have some time to discuss the different ways that people are perceiving the group process. Often underneath a certain person (or their ideas) being ignored is a deeper issue of equity, inclusion or group think. The idea is less important than the reasons it is not being surfaced, discussed or given a equal seat at the table.
