L+D Design Studios: an opportunity to expand your problem-solving skills, habits, and mindsets and develop your leadership capacity to tackle your school or community's biggest challenges.
L+D Design Studios are workshops for curious, risk-taking, problem-solving souls in the education space who are interested in finding new strategies for making change.
You might be a teacher-leader who has integrated design thinking into your work with students, but are ready to experiment with how these habits and mindsets might apply in leading larger-scale initiatives and change projects in your school.
Or maybe you're a school staff member or administrator interested in expanding your leadership practice, and want to learn some new human-centered strategies for rethinking the way your team works together,
Perhaps you're a student who wants to get involved and engage more fully with the community but doesn't yet know how to get started.
This year's series of Design Studio workshops offers three different ways students, teachers, school leaders, and administrators can adopt some of the creative strategies employed by human-centered designers and innovators in order to create and lead change. These experiences are meant to expand and deepen your school's application of design thinking, to tackle important issues and initiatives that are at the top of many schools' agendas. Design Studios offer a space to learn new approaches while sharing experiences with educators, leaders, and/or students at other schools who are facing similar challenges.
While each Design Studio experience addresses a different topic, participants in all three workshops will have the opportunity to:
Deepen their understanding of the language, process, and mindsets of Design Thinking, particularly as they apply to educational and/or community leadership;
Work in a team to deepen their understanding of and practice the habits of collaborative work and design-inspired leadership;
Explore direct applications of design thinking problem-solving approaches to real-world problems, either inside or outside of the school setting;
Learn and practice specific tools that they can bring home and immediately apply in their work;
Meet and connect with other like-minded educators and/or students interested in creative and innovative approaches to education and problem-solving;
Play and have fun.
