Leadership+Design Fellowship 9.0
The application to apply for next year's L+D Fellowship cohort is now open. Each cohort is comprised of 15-20 amazing school leaders from across the country. Independent school leaders, public school leaders, charter school leaders, and more importantly, L+Doers gather in person twice during the year, and work collaboratively via Zoom, Slack and in small groups between the two in-person meetings.
There is homework: this is an active learning experience and is not a place to passively pad your resume. This group of passionate school leaders is bound by a commitment to learning, not performing. If you are a good fit, you will thrive and find people like you to tackle the messy and ambiguous challenges we face in education.
The Leadership + Design fellowship is first and foremost about the people involved. It is a cohort program, and we have learned through our experience that it is the deep relationships that persist. Many fellows continue to meet long after the experience, and after eight years, there are over a hundred alumni out in the world of education doing important work.
The curriculum is rooted in three core areas:
How to lead change as a REFLECTIVE CHANGEMAKER.
How to solve problems and see the world as a HUMAN-CENTERED DESIGN THINKER.
How to lead with the habits, mindset and skills of an OPTIMISTIC FUTURIST.
Listen to a conversation with Dr. Lorna Torrado, Director of SEL and Diversity at Girls' School of Austin and Diego Duran-Medina (both L+D Fellows in Cohort 7) as they discuss their work and thinking post L+D Fellowship. In addition to their school work, both Diego and Lorna are both Leaders-in-Residence with Leadership + Design.
Dr. Torrado and Diego are both experts in their fields, and this wide ranging conversation highlights the way that unique leaders use the Fellowship experience to expand their work, reach and impact. We cover modern citizenship, mental health, agency for adults and students, and the work of being an optimistic futurist.
